R&B superstar Janet Jackson was reportedly hospitalized on Monday (September 29), shortly before a scheduled performance in Montreal, Canada.
According to the Associated Press, a statement from Jackson's rep claims the 42 year-old singer "got suddenly ill” during her sound check and was immediately rushed to the hospital. She is currently being monitored and is expected to reschedule the concert.
As of now, no further information has been released on her status.
The multi-platinum selling artist is currently on the road for the first time in 7 years with her "Rock Witchu" tour. Along with LL Cool J and Bad Boy’s Donnie Klang, Janet will be making stops in major cities across the United States and Canada.
In related news, Jackson recently announced her departure from Island Def Jam (IDJ) after releasing only one album, February's Discipline, on the storied label.
“At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship with the popular artist,” Jackson’s rep said in a statement. “Now, more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.”
