50 Cent, T-Pain, LL Cool J, Ice Cube and more will be hitting the stage for a special one-night extravaganza in New Jersey this fall dubbed “Check the Rhyme.”
Making on-stage history, New York urban radio station Hot 97 will be paying hip-hop homage by bringing both old-school legends like Slick Rick and Q-Tip on the same platform to perform alongside today’s biggest stars.
Hosted by Hot 97 radio personality Funkmaster Flex, the night will be highlighted with legendary hip-hop icon Kool DJ Red Alert behind the turntables and Video Music Box’s Ralph McDaniels’ both celebrating 25 years of hip-hop achievements.
The event will also feature performances by Doug E Fresh plus R&B singer Brandy.
“Check The Rhyme” kicks off on Friday, November 21 at East Rutherford, N.J.’s Izod Center at 7:30 p.m. EST. Tickets went on sale today and can be found on ticketmaster.com.
In related news, 50 may have caught the short end of the stick for his upcoming video game release, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, which may not see the light of day.
According to MCV (Market for Computer and Video Games), the game’s manufacturer, Vivendi UK, has suffered major losses in staff as a new merger has placed remaining workers at Activision Blizzard. Functions at the Vivendi offices have reportedly ceased leaving many games’ indefinitely placed on hold.
In addition to the highly anticipated Ghostbusters game, 50’s follow-up to his 2005 Bulletproof release is currently in talks and may not hit shelves this holiday season.
As of today, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is still scheduled to hit stores Tuesday, November 4.
